Executive Bios

Claudio Hidalgo is president of Nextel Chile, a subsidiary of NII Holdings, Inc., which is a provider of differentiated mobile communication services for businesses and high value consumers in Latin America. With operations in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Chile, NII is a Fortune 500 company and trades on the NASDAQ market under the symbol NIHD.

Mr. Hidalgo is responsible for leading the company’s operations, providing strategic guidance and identifying and capturing growth opportunities. His primary focus is to expand the company’s subscriber base, offering high-value customers in Chile unique and differentiated telecommunications services with best-in-class customer service. He also spearheads the development of Nextel Chile’s 3G network, which uses spectrum acquired in an auction in 2009.

Mr. Hidalgo has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector. Prior to joining Nextel Chile, he was vice president of mobile business and 3G projects for VTR, a Chilean telecommunications company that is a subsidiary of Liberty Global, Inc. He has also held executive positions in other leading telecommunications organizations, including president and chief executive officer of Telefónica Móviles Panama and Nicaragua; and president and chief executive officer of Movistar Puerto Rico. In addition, he has launched several entrepreneurial ventures.

Mr. Hidalgo holds a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from the Gabriela Mistral University in Chile. He is a resident of Santiago, where Nextel Chile is based.
