Steven P. Dussek
Chief Executive Officer

Steven P. Dussek is chief executive officer of NII Holdings, Inc., a provider of differentiated mobile communication services for businesses and high value consumers in Latin America. With operations in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Chile, NII is a Fortune 500 company and trades on the NASDAQ market under the symbol NIHD.

Mr. Dussek provides corporate leadership and direction to NII in its pursuit of growth opportunities in Latin America.  Under his stewardship, NII grew its subscriber base by 46 percent in three years, reaching more than 10.9 million subscribers to date, and achieving world class industry operational metrics.  In 2011, NII delivered exceptional financial and operational results, including $6.7 billion in consolidated operating revenues – a 20 percent increase over 2010. Mr. Dussek was recognized with the 2009 Excellence Award by America Economia magazine, a distinction that recognizes his management perspective and commitment to Latin America.

Mr. Dussek’s engagement with NII’s success began in 1996 when he joined Nextel Communications, Inc., where he stepped into the role of chief operating officer in 1999 and then became chief executive officer of Nextel International. Mr. Dussek rejoined NII Holdings (formerly Nextel International) as chief executive officer in February 2008.  Mr. Dussek has been a member of NII’s board of directors since 1999.

Mr. Dussek has held many top management and sales positions within the telecommunications industry.  From 2005 to 2007, he was president and chief executive officer of Dobson Communications Corporation, leading the company to profitability while growing its revenues to more than $1.5 billion.  One of his key accomplishments at Dobson was guiding the company through its successful acquisition by AT&T.  Mr. Dussek has also served as vice president and general manager of the northeast region for the PCS Division at AT&T Wireless Services and as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Paging Networks, Inc.  Mr. Dussek has held senior positions at McCaw Cellular Communications and at MCI Airsignal.

Mr. Dussek is committed to community and social efforts, and serves on the boards of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Washington Animal Rescue League, and the Board of Trustees at the prestigious Langley School.

Mr. Dussek is based at NII’s headquarters in Reston, VA.
